in 2010, the enterprise technology center of jiangsu xingda steel tyre cord co., ltd. was jointly accredited as a national enterprise technology center by the national development and reform commission, the ministry of science and technology, the ministry of finance, the general administration of customs, and the state administration of taxation.

main research subjects

based on exchanges and cooperation with tyre manufacturers, the center works to understand the performance requirements of its clients for reinforcement materials and engages in targeted product development. after continuous exploration of the manufacturing process, xingda is now capable of developing and producing both cable-type beads and rectangular bead wires, and has established a highly competitive product portfolio including the 1 18 series and the 4 3 series.

development of new reinforcement materials in cooperation with tyre manufacturers and related research institutes

the new materials being developed include not only cost-effective raw materials, but those with a high hardening rate, a low level of inclusions and new alloy elements. xingda has maintained close cooperation with steel plants. while researching the impact of alloy elements on the production process of steel cords, xingda also explores the impact of the addition of those elements on the microstructure and makes correlation analysis in collaboration with universities. it has developed alloyed rods with different strengths that are highly suitable for steel cord production, while consistently committed to its undertaking of localizing the production of raw materials.

r&d of new materials in cooperation with related steel enterprises and research institutes

to improve product quality through process testing, e.g. using the heat treatment test line to research the heat treatment process, as part of the company’s efforts to improve and enhance the performance of copper-plated wires; using the plating test line to research steel cord plating, so as to develop new coatings or improve the quality of existing coatings on products and increase their adhesion; and using the extruder to simulate the calendering process in tyre plants, so as to provide support for the verification of product improvement.

improvement of the production process mainly for the existing products, with a view to continuously refining their quality

the company optimizes its energy structure by introducing green and clean energy. for example, it has implemented a project for installing solar panels on the top of plants and parking lots, and has purchased green electricity on a regular basis. the company has also improved its energy efficiency through the optimization of production equipment, and such efforts include the project for the recovery of waste heat from the heat treatment furnace, and the steam transformation project.

development of new processes and technologies to reduce energy consumption and emissions

technical research that centers on problems related to pollution in the production process of steel cords, in a bid to create an eco-friendly enterprise. the efforts in this regard include optimizing the traditional chemical process for rust removal by replacing it with physical or mechanical means; and substituting the auxiliary chemical materials needed for the production process that are associated with pollution and treatment costs, with recyclable auxiliary materials that feature low pollution and treatment costs.

refinement and special research on the production process and methods with a view to improving the environment

the tyre market is the main field for the application of the company’s products. apart from the tyre business, the company is also exploring other fields of product applications, such as elevator handrail belts, synchronous belts, large-size rubber hoses, etc., to keep expanding its business scope.
